Define what you want to change
Sealing may be considered for surface protection or appearance, but it does not repair unstable or deteriorated concrete. Describe the surface, its age and any existing treatment. Ask what the proposed product is intended to do and what it cannot do.
Check compatibility first
Previous sealers, curing products, moisture and contamination can affect the result. Product selection should follow an assessment and manufacturer instructions. Applying another coating without knowing what is already present can create problems.
Consider appearance and traction
Some products change color, sheen or the feel of a wet surface. Discuss those effects for patios, walkways and steps. A small representative test area can help set expectations when the selected system allows it.
Plan preparation and future care
Cleaning, drying conditions, application weather and return-to-use instructions matter. Ask for the product name and maintenance guidance in writing. Do not assume a universal resealing interval; use the surface condition and applicable instructions.
